Event Invitation Design
For music nonprofit Bang on a Can’s 2019 fundraiser, I created an animated email banner and print invitation based on a performance of The Mile-Long Opera by artist Elizabeth Diller. Set in one of Manhattan's most dynamic public spaces, the project brought together 1,000 singers from across New York to perform. Audiences moved in and out of groups of singers as they walked along the High Line. The email banner and iron cross-folding invite proved so successful that Bang on a Can decided to repeat the design format for two subsequent fundraiser invitations.
Bang on a Can is a multi-faceted contemporary classical music organization in New York City. It was founded in 1987 by three American composers who remain its artistic directors: Julia Wolfe, David Lang, and Michael Gordon. Called “the country’s most important vehicle for contemporary music” by the San Francisco Chronicle, the organization focuses on the presentation of new concert music and has presented hundreds of musical events worldwide.
